Svenska Handelsbanken
SVENSKA HANDELSBANKEN
Feedback is always good, even if what we have, they are not looking for at the moment. One thing to keep in mind is that agents are looking for many different things. Of all the ones who have responded so far, Crime/Detective is not necessarily their NO. 1 genre to read. However, out of the 57 agents I have sent query's to, I was able to find a few out of there who love Crime/Detective. These we have not heard back from. Also, Svenska Handelsbanken is a different type of manuscript. This is not your typical book read. It is written more like a script. Our editor stated she loved the fact that the book is easy to read and follow along. We know you will love it too. Tomorrow is another day. We are not discouraged. Perhaps in the next four months there are no agents willing to take us on. That is okay. We will self publish the book/series anyway. We thought we would try it this way and see how it works out. We have several publishers that are still sending us emails to publish our book.
Word of warning for all authors out there who try and self publish. Here is what we run into. Plain and simple, a publisher wants to publish your book. They charge you an up front fee, and then they publish your book. Here is the problem. Say you pay $1,000. $5,000 or more. The publisher now has their cost to publish, along with their profit. Once the book is published, the publisher has no incentive to market your book. You are left with your own marketing strategy to market your book. Spending more money to market, and oftentimes, not get that money back.
For us, this is a FUN project. We are excited to have many family and friends who are supporting us, This will continue to be a fun project. My has made it perfectly clear that if our book becomes stressful, we need to just publish and be on our way. We do not need the stress. As mentioned, this is fun for us. The conversations we have had writing the book and even after are priceless. As such, sometimes things happen in real life, and I look at someone who is a character in the book, and I say, "That's going in the book!"
Excited to hear back from some really good agents today. Again, they were "No's," but in a nice way. Sandy Lu actually took time to write out a few extra sentences which was nice. Have a great day and don't forget to friend our Facebook page, "Svenska Handelsbanken." Also, please join our email list. You will receive one email each morning after my blog. Use the "Contact" page to send us a message. Would always love to hear from you!
