November 17th is our new arrival date. My call, but due to working on another project, I found a way to enhance the graphics on our cover design. Something I thought the designer would do, but they did not.

Other project? Ah yes. We have a book signing scheduled for November 18th, at our location at Starline in Harvard IL. Pat Braker at Starline has a booth where they take pictures and put them on aluminum. The pictures are fantastic. In working with their website, www.lakelifeimages.com, they only take images that are higher resolution then what we had. Therefore, I had to come up with a way to make our image a higher resolution. Although not high tech resolution, it did the trick. In the process, our saw our photo come to life. That is what I wanted for our cover.

D&R Press had already printed 250 covers, but we stopped the presses. Yes... there is a cost to that. However, I have something that I do which determines which way to go. I simply ask myself, "A year from now, are you going to kick yourself in the behind for not switching covers?" The answer was, "Yes!" So we delay production of the book to create the new cover. Something we wish the designer, with all their software would have done, but sometimes, if you want something done right, do it yourself. The following books we will have everything done before we send it to the designer.

On that note, we should have seen it coming. Our first too proofs showed that the designer doesn't really care about the outlook of the project. The first book the cover was centered on the cover page. Way to much room on the top and way to much room on the bottom. The second proof, was not much better. I literally had to show them what I wanted by doing it myself. Really please with D&R, but from now on, we need to have our designs done somewhere else. Speaking of which, I have time to send the other books designs out. I should get started on that. However, that costs money. Let's see how this one turns out. If it turns out really nice, perhaps we will just duplicate what we did and then send it forward.

Anyway, enough of my tangent. Glad to finally vent. My loving wife was patient with me last night as I was frustrated because all of this could have been prevented. Oh well. Today is another day. Today we will get the proof for the new cover. Once approved, off to print and lamination.

Thank you for reading this far. Have a great rest of your day. We are thankful for all of our readers. You really do make us who we are.
