The Journey Starts Here

Excited to say that this weekend has been interesting. Finding an agent is not as easy as once perceived. Come to find out it takes weeks, if not months to even hear back from an agent. Mainly because reading emails is not their primary job. Think of all those authors who they have already accepted. They need to work with their projects, and then find time to squeeze in reading new queries.

BookEnds Literary Agency is fantastic. Jessica Faust responded in less than 24 hours. She was positive and reassuring, although her client list is already high. She told me to seek out another agent at BookEnds, but unfortunately, other agents who would be interested in my genre, Crime/Detective/Police are not taking queries at this time. Book marked for later.

As of today, I have contacted 32 agents. Contacting an agent is tricky. Agencies want you to only contact one agent within their company. So basically, my time is spent reading each agents profile and then contacting the one I believe is the best agent for us. There is no sense in sending a Crime/Detective novel to an agent who wants to read Romance, or Sci-Fi. In the end, there are some great agents on our list. Praying for a faster than expected response, like Jessica Faust, but with a positive "Send us your entire manuscript" response.

For now, back to contacting agents. Thank you for being a part of our journey. I will make every effort to update you here along the way. Excited as Svenska Handelsbanken is so close, yet so far. Waiting to hear back is always the hard part. However, one day the right agent will reach back out to us!
